Challenge
The customer has a concrete storm shelter that is 8 feet below the outside grade. The stairwell fills up with debris and often overflows with water. With the increasing hydrostatic pressure the walls buckled. The walls failed by cracking horizontally and leak throughout the concrete surface.
Solution
The Vesta Foundation Solutions Team installed PowerBrace bowing wall system along the foundation walls. Trench drain was installed along the outside stairwell and a direct feed line was installed directly to the existing sump pump. The sump system was upgraded using a 1/2 HP Zoeller brand pump. The installation was about 8 hours for our crew to install.
